        Skype interview with Baba Aye

Skype interview with Baba Aye, unionist from Nigeria, on the movement against the abolition of petrol-subsidies in January 2012.

When the Nigerian government wanted to abolish the subsidies and increase the price of petrol by 120 percent in January 2012, a big protest movement started, including an eight-day general strike. Demonstrations took place in more than 50 cities, and millions of workers took part.

Baba Aye has written a detailed article on the incident in the "Socialist Workers Bulletin".

During the skype interview we asked Baba Aye about the role of the unions and his opinion on possible further protests.
