        Miners Shot Down

In August 2012,  34 miners were killed during a wildcat strike in Marikana, South Africa, as they were fighting for better wages. After being let down by their union, they organised a sit-in near the mine and refused to go back to work until their demands would be fulfilled. Six days later, the police used live ammunition to brutally suppress the strike, killing 34 and injuring many more.

The filmakers were there as the tragedy took place and could document the events as well as show the responsibility in this massacre shared by the mining company Lonmin, ANC government and their allies in the National Union of Mineworkers.
