        China Blue

Film about the working and living conditions of three young female migrant workers in China who work in a jeans factory in Shaxi, Guangdong province. This factory produces 200,000 jeans per month. The usual working day lasts 12 hours, but it is further extended if necessary. The workers do not get paid for overtime hours. Whoever falls asleep at work has to pay a fine. The wages are not paid regularly and are retained for up to three months.

90 percent of Chinese migrant workers have no health insurance. Usually, they have no work contract, either.

During the film, the factory owner, former city police chief, gets a chance to talk, too. He openly talks about his alleged model factory, and he allows the team to film in the factory. However, when a wildcat strike occurs during the film shooting, the camera teams gets arrested by the police.

We show a part of the film.
